Did you know American Express cards are now easy to accept at great rates?

Canadian businesses processing less than $600,000 per year in American Express transactions are eligible for reduced Amex rates through the new Amex OptBlue program. Amex customers, on average, spend more per purchase than other cardholders, so every business should strongly consider saying 'Yes' to their Amex customers.

Lower Rates

Amex OptBlue pricing is a simple two-tiered wholesale pricing program with the rate depending on your industry and the transaction size. For example, retail and services OptBlue rates are 1.60% for transactions $500 and under, and 2.00% for transactions over $500. For wholesale/B2B companies, the rate is 1.60% for transactions $1,000 and under, and 2.00% for transactions over $1,000.

ONE PAYMENT, ONE STATEMENT

Get paid at the same time as your other card brands — all your card payments come to you at once, which will make your bookkeeper happy. You will also have one statement for all the credit cards you accept. No more separate statements for Amex transactions. Your provider will also handle support questions for your Amex transactions, so you'll have a single point of contact for all your payments.

Sign-Up is Easy

If you are already accepting American Express, you simply provide Baseline with your 10-digit Amex merchant ID number on sign-up and we take over the handling of your Amex processing. If you are not yet an American Express customer, you just let us know that you'd like to accept Amex on the OptBlue pricing program.

VISA and Mastercard provide lower interchange rates for merchants processing recurring transactions.

These recurring rates are between 0.15% and 0.89% lower than standard keyed rates.
Merchants on Baseline's transparent Cost Plus pricing model, and using our virtual terminal solution, have access to these lower rates.

Security

Cardholder security is of the utmost importance to us. Baseline's virtual terminal — perfect for B2B/wholesale operations — is a fully PCI Compliant solution. All cardholder information is processed and stored on the processor’s server behind their firewall. At no point does any information pass through your server, and while you are able to easily pull up your recurring customers, you do not have access to their full card numbers. Further security steps (for example, tokenization), can be taken to further encrypt the cardholder data.
